Restricted postcodes COVID-19 letter

Saturday 11th July 2020

11/07/2020

Dear parents, carers, guardians and school community,

On Thursday 9th of July, in line with advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government announced a return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions for some Victorian postcodes in response to increased coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission in these areas.

That means, if you live in these postcodes, there are only four reasons to leave home: shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, and study or work – if you can’t do it from home.

These restrictions will be in place for a period of six weeks, from 11.59pm on Wednesday 8 July 2020 to 11:59pm on Wednesday 19 August 2020. As you would be aware, our school is in one of these postcodes.

The Chief Health Officer has advised that we, and all schools in the restricted postcodes, should continue to operate as normal from the start of Term 3, unless there is a confirmed case of a staff member or student with coronavirus (COVID-19) and our school is required to close to enable deep cleaning and contact tracing to occur.

All of our staff and students are able to continue to attend, including those who live outside our postcode area. The recent increase in the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases is a reminder that we all must play our part and continue to slow the spread of the virus.

If you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of a fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, you should get tested at a coronavirus (COVID-19) testing facility and stay home.

We will continue to keep you informed. The latest information about coronavirus (COVID-19) and schools is on the Department of Education and Training website: www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx.

More information about coronavirus (COVID-19) is available on the Department of Health and Human Services website: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au.

Thank you for your continuing support, and I look forward to welcoming all our students back at the start of Term 3.
